Common Injuries We Treat

Spider and Tick Bites

Tick bites usually cause some minor irritation and redness but sometimes they can spread serious diseases as well. After an insect bite watch for symptoms such as:

  • Oozing from the bite site
  • Flu-like symptoms: body aches, chills, fatigue
  • Vomiting
  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Rashes

During the summer months, tick and spider populations are at their peak. Always check for ticks after woods exposure or other outdoor activities. If a tick is found attached to a human host, be seen at any TAUC location immediately to have it removed. The longer a tick remains attached, the more likely it is to spread tick-borne disease.

Bee Stings

Tick bites usually cause some minor irritation and redness but sometimes they can spread serious diseases as well. After an insect bite watch for symptoms such as:

  • Swelling
  • Fever
  • Throat tightness or swelling
  • Pain or itching
  • Animal bites

Dog and cat bites often require imaging to look for hidden damage to bones and ligaments or the presence of foreign bodies. Puncture wounds from animal bites are prone to infection due to the bacteria found in an animal’s mouth. Depending on the type of bite and its severity, antibiotics may be prescribed or administered by IV during your visit. The vaccine history of the animal can be used to determine if there is any concern for diseases, such as rabies, that could have been transferred through the bite.

Broken Bones

Broken bones are often accompanied by the following symptoms:

  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Limited range of motion

If there is concern for a fracture, Total Access can perform X-ray images to see if there are any breaks or fractures. TAUC carries a variety of orthotic devices to stabilize the area so that the injury can heal properly. Usually, these injuries will require follow-up with an orthopedic specialist to monitor the healing process.

Sprains & Strains

URGENT-CARE-HEADSHOTS

Spider and Tick Bites

After an injury to the limbs, neck, or back, Total Access can make sure that there is no extensive damage, such as a fracture. If the injury has caused damage to muscles, tendons, or ligaments the affected area often requires a supportive device to allow it to heal properly.

Concussions & Head Injuries

It is essential to be evaluated by a medical professional after a traumatic injury, particularly one that involves the head or neck. When there has been loss of consciousness, a wound to the skull, a headache, or vomiting following the injury it could indicate internal damage. Total Access Urgent Care clinics can use diagnostic imaging such as X-ray or CT scans to evaluate for hemorrhage or other serious damage.

Cuts & Scrapes

Cuts and scrapes are alarming, especially when accompanied by bleeding. Total Access will evaluate the severity of a laceration and usually provide some form of wound repair including steri strips, sutures, or staples. TAUC also has a variety of local anesthetics available to make the process as painless as possible. Wound care instructions that are specific to the injury are given as well as a recommended return date to have sutures or staples removed. *If you need an ultrasound, please visit any location to be evaluated by a board-certified provider. Once evaluated, TAUC will schedule the ultrasound at the Webster Groves/Rock Hill location.
